The International Press Center, Lagos has condemned the abduction of the Mrs Toyin Nwosu, a journalist and wife of the Deputy Managing Director of The Sun Newspapers, Mr Steve Nwosu.
Reacting to the news of her abduction by the Gunmen in the early hours of yesterday, at the Nwosu’s Lagos residence, Director of IPC, Mr. Lanre Arogundade strongly condemned the abduction stating that it was becoming very worrisome that journalists seem to have become regular targets of kidnappers
“How come yet another kidnap of a journalist when we have barely ‘celebrated’ the freedom of Donu kogbara of the Vanguard?”, Mr. Arogundade asked.
According to IPC director journalists are not looters of treasury and are also not responsible for the economic woes of the nation.
“If anything, the media has been at the forefront of the fight against corruption and therefore kidnappers should stop targeting journalists”, he added.
