The Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), the Nigeria Broadcasting Code and the Nigerian Media Code of Election Coverage (revised edition 2018), all confer on journalists the right to freely cover the electoral processes and the elections.
Accredited journalists covering today’s (March 9, 2019) governorship and state assembly should therefore report any violation of this right by way of harassment, assault, arrest, detention, etc, to any of the following IPC safety alert officers across the country for documentation and intervention:

IPC Director, Lanre Arogundade said concerned journalists can also report any threat to the National Secretariat of the NUJ or the NUJ State Chapters.
He also said journalists having issues with security personnel should not hesitate to contact the nearest DPO, the State Commissioner of Police or the Force PRO.
